About Retro

There is nothing clever about Retro, and that is the compliment: it does what the shelf promises and stops there. The designer behind it is Green Pilot. Only 18 people have saved it so far, so this is our pick rather than the crowd's. 5.0 out of 5 from 1 review — a small sample, but it is the sample there is.

Digital papers get cut and layered, so the question is whether the pattern still reads in a two-centimetre strip — check the preview at that scale. Our own plan for it is 70shippie digital paper retro digital paper, because that is where this kind of printable does the least arguing with you. The licence tab and the full-size preview are the whole of our due diligence here, and they take about a minute between them.

If you came in looking for 60s retro pattern, you are in the right place — the listing carries all of those, which is the clearest sign the designer built it for that job rather than retitled it afterwards. Its home here is Digital Papers — open that shelf if you would rather compare a few before choosing. The neighbouring searches are paper pack, scrapbook paper, patterned paper, paper pattern and seamless pattern — worth a look if this particular printable is close but not quite it. The wording people arrive with is scrapbook paper, digital planner and digital scrapbooking, and we would rather shelve for those requests than for how a thumbnail looks in a grid.

How to use this printable

  1. Download the kit from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — most kits are JPG or PNG pages plus a print-ready PDF.
  2. Print on something heavier than copy paper: 120 gsm and up takes glue and water without buckling.
  3. Print at 100% and keep «fit to page» off — a shrunk sheet throws off every cut-out that was drawn to size.
  4. Tea-stain or sand the edges if the set looks too crisp next to the rest of your journal; vintage paper is never evenly coloured.
