About Decorative Borders and Flourish Vector
What we like about Decorative Borders and Flourish Vector is how little it tries to be everything — it does abstract, and that is the job we wanted filled on the Ephemera and Cut-Outs shelf. Nobody has reviewed it, which we do not hold against a new file — but it does mean the preview is the only honest evidence. The designer behind it is DesignVectx. It is quiet on saves so far, so take this as our opinion rather than the crowd's.
Cutouts are only as good as their edges. Zoom in on the preview: a white halo around a cut piece shows up on every page you glue it to. If you want one use for it, take arch: that is the direction the designer clearly had in mind, and it is the one we would follow. Open it big before you commit. At thumbnail size every printable on this shelf looks equally good, which is the problem with thumbnails.
The listing files it under art, black, black and white and border — those are the words it gets found by, and between them they describe the file better than any category name does. It is shelved with the rest of the ephemera and cut-outs, and that is the quickest way to see what else sits in the same register before you settle on this one. How to use this printable
- Download the kit from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — most kits are JPG or PNG pages plus a print-ready PDF.
- Print on something heavier than copy paper: 120 gsm and up takes glue and water without buckling.
- Print at 100% and keep «fit to page» off — a shrunk sheet throws off every cut-out that was drawn to size.
- Tea-stain or sand the edges if the set looks too crisp next to the rest of your journal; vintage paper is never evenly coloured.
