What we like about Whimsical Christmas Santa Alligator is how little it tries to be everything — it does alligator christmas illustration, and that is the job we wanted filled on the Paper Craft Graphics shelf. Print a test page on the paper you actually use — the same file on copy paper and on cardstock is two different colours. If you want one use for it, take alligator png transparent: that is the direction the designer clearly had in mind, and it is the one we would follow. The licence tab and the full-size preview are the whole of our due diligence here, and they take about a minute between them.
Filed as christmas alligator png, christmas animal png, christmas character art and christmas craft graphic. Tags are a rough instrument, but a consistent set like that usually means the file is what it claims. The same shelf also answers to clipart, clip art, border and alphabet, so widen the search there before giving up on it. We filed it under Paper Craft Graphics for the obvious reason, and the shelf is small enough to read end to end. The wording people arrive with is calligraphy alphabet, calligraphy fonts alphabet, hand lettering alphabet fonts and alphabet calligraphy, and we would rather shelve for those requests than for how a thumbnail looks in a grid.

- Print on something heavier than copy paper: 120 gsm and up takes glue and water without buckling.
- Print at 100% and keep «fit to page» off — a shrunk sheet throws off every cut-out that was drawn to size.
- Tea-stain or sand the edges if the set looks too crisp next to the rest of your journal; vintage paper is never evenly coloured.
