About Dad-of-a-monster

This is the one we reach for when the request is autumn. Dad-of-a-monster keeps it simple, which is why it sits here rather than in the reserve pile. There are no reviews on it yet, so judge it by the preview and not by a score that does not exist. The designer behind it is moondesigner. 1 save means nobody has tested it for you. We still think it holds up.

If you want one use for it, take bat: that is the direction the designer clearly had in mind, and it is the one we would follow. A background has to take ink and glue without fighting what goes on top, so the quiet sheets get used far more than the dramatic ones. Open it big before you commit. At thumbnail size every printable on this shelf looks equally good, which is the problem with thumbnails.

Filed as background, black, castle and cat. Tags are a rough instrument, but a consistent set like that usually means the file is what it claims. Most of the traffic on this shelf comes in on scrapbook background, watercolor background, calligraphy background, vintage background for scrapbook and polaroid background, and we picked the files on it with those requests in mind rather than by browsing prettiest-first. Nearby you will see texture, grunge, watercolor background and overlay, which is where to go if this one is nearly right but not quite. You will find it among the textures and backgrounds, sorted next to everything that does roughly the same job.

How to use this printable

  1. Download the kit from Creative Fabrica and unzip it — most kits are JPG or PNG pages plus a print-ready PDF.
  2. Print on something heavier than copy paper: 120 gsm and up takes glue and water without buckling.
  3. Print at 100% and keep «fit to page» off — a shrunk sheet throws off every cut-out that was drawn to size.
  4. Tea-stain or sand the edges if the set looks too crisp next to the rest of your journal; vintage paper is never evenly coloured.
